VNC® Enterprise Edition 4.2 - known bugs and features

The following are known bugs, features and omissions in VNC Enteprise Edition 4.2. You may also wish to check the known bugs, features and omissions in VNC Enterprise Edition 4.1.

4 January 2007 81 Windows viewer For languages which use Input Method Editors (IME)s for input, the IME switching key-sequence is handled by VNC Viewer, preventing keyboard input from being correctly passed to the server-side IME. Use the server-side IME interface to activate the desired IME at the server, without affecting the viewer's IME status. Fixed in 4.2.8

14 February 2007 83 Windows viewer When viewing a desktop that is larger than the viewer's display area in full-screen mode, VNC Viewer fails to re-position the desktop if the server resizes it smaller. 19 February 2007 89 Windows server (Vista) Ctrl+Alt+Delete does not work. The problem can be mitigated by configuring your system not to require Ctrl+Alt+Delete in order to log on. To do this, go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Manage User Accounts > Advanced and unselect Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Fixed in 4.3
18 April 2007 90 Mac server Changes made in the Service Properties have no effect. Run the following command in a terminal window (requires administrator privileges):

sudo chmod g+w /var/root/.vnc/prefs

Fixed in 4.3
10 May 2007 91 Mac server Adding new license key succeeds but "The trial period has expired" error still occures when connecting. Run the following command in a terminal window (requires administrator privileges):

sudo chmod g+w /etc/vnc/licensekey

26 Jul 2007 92 Windows viewer Changing the encryption for a new connection does not affect that connection. Disconnect and reconnect. Fixed in 4.3
